Travelling by air makes me feel like the baggage
Have you ever travelled by air as a blind person? If so, then I thik you'll aggree with me. Fantastic customer service people not-with-standing, air travel often leaves you feeling like the baggage. It's an extremely impersonal experience calculated to leave you feeling powerless. No thank you, I don't want a wheel chair.
I fly american because they go where I need to go at a price I can afford to pay. Since I'm flying a lot now, I need the mileage points. My last couple of trips, I downloaded the american airlines app because a friend of mine reported that it was very accessible on his IPhone. So, I was expecting good things and have not had any reason to be disappointed.
I now handle all my own checkin before I arrive at the airport. I now have instant access to my schedule and gate information and I am the first to know when my gate changes or my flight get's pushed back. I can track my own airmiles balance, identify my own boarding pass, and know which seet I'm in when I board the airplane. That's pretty much what I do with the app. It may not seem like much, but it puts a measure of control back into my hands and takes just that little bit of stress out of my travel day.
The only issue I have noticed so far is that it is a bit wanky about updateing my connection status. For example, when I go detroit to Dalas to Reno, and I land in Dalas, my flight time and seet information update properly, but my root doesn't update to sho Dalas to Reno until I'm literally on the plane ready for takeoff. It really worried me the first time. Now Ive come to recognise that it's just the way things are.
I've never tried the sedocu game. I usually bring my own entertainment to the airport with me. Next time I fly, maybe I'll try it out. Or, if you know whether it's accessible or not, feel free to report in.
