chromecast devices explained
This is the chromecast app. It is primarily used to setup a chromcast hardware device. There are audio and video dongles. This software is only used for the initial configuration after that you will never need it again.
The thing to note about chromecast is there is no interface on the
device per se. Asside from the time, photos on the screen and the
video itself, which you can't control from a UI on the screen (wether
you are sighted or not); as there are no interractive elements.
This makes it the ideal solution for someone with vision requirements
as the accessibility of the experience is 100% reliant on the device,
OS and software.
In terms of setup; the chromcast app for android is totally usable and
I've set up 2 without assistance.
With respect to usage, after it's setup for the 1st time, you simply hit the "cast" button in the app
that contains the source material (on your phone/tablet) and select
the device to send it too and that is it. The app on your phone shows
the current status and adds a play/pause/media controls that will
connect with the chromecast dongle and control the dongle itself.
