When I am using Talkback with apps such as the BARD, GoRead and Netflix etc, my screen turns off and stops talkback from speaking. Then I have to unlock the screen and restart the app I am using.

Alan, Thanks for this. We lob the administrative assistant hat in your general direction in hope that you will add this app to the directory and then build information about it into inclusive androids tutorial on how to dim or disable the display. Please contact the admins if you have any questions on how to do this.
Thank you,
If you don't want your phone screen turn off at all, install the app call no screen off. When you need to read something long, just double tap on the app icon and it will disable your screen timeout and when you've done just double tap the same icon the screen timeout will return to normal. Here is the Playstore link:

Hi, Here's another tip to keep the screen active. I found this out just now when I was looking for something completely unrelated and thought you might enjoy.
First, turn developre mode on. In my moto G, this is done by flailing away at the build version icon for a good little while until the mode turns on. Other devices may be different. If you want, I can make this a tutorial so that others can come along and add the procedure for various phones.
Next, back out of about and you will see a new panel of settings under system called developer. Double tap that.
Doubletap "Stay awake, screen will not sleep while the device is plugged in", to check the option. Now, as long as your device is plugged in, it will not go to sleep and interupt what you are doing.
Hi, you can set the sleep setting as high as 30 minutes. This will reduce the frequency of the behavior you ar describing, but not iliminate it. Lollypop doesn't allow you to turn off the sleep setting because invariabley you will forget to sleep your phone manually and the screen will drain your battery very quickly.
In fact, since we're on the subject, you should definitely have some way to darken your screen beyond the levels android allows by default to maximize your battery life while you listen. Some one may also be able to help us out with a tweak that will bypass android's fussy 30 minute limit.
